Built in the 17th century and enlarged in the 19th century, the Hôtel Fayet is one of the most beautiful architectural jewels in Béziers. Attached to the Fayet family, including Gustave, a rich entrepreneur, collector and painter. The hotel was first an elegant bourgeois house, with a large artist's studio, before becoming a museum after the sale of the building to the city in 1966.

As a branch of the former Musée des Beaux-Arts, the Hôtel Fayet presents part of the extraordinary collection of 19th century paintings, from Romanticism to the academic painters of the Third Republic, including Delacroix, Géricault and Cabanel.

One of the major attractions is the studio collection of the Béziers sculptor Jean-Antoine Injalbert. A neo-baroque artist, steeped in Italian and French influences, he was one of the most sought-after sculptors of his time. His incomparable talent as a modeler can be seen in the permanent exhibition, which focuses on the presentation of his preparatory work.
