Dive into this 14 minute show which uses cutting-edge technology and a wealth of talent to surround you from head to toe: settle into your “hi-tech” seat and feel, see and watch images washing over the walls and floor…You’re truly seeped in the history of the Canal du Midi and Fonseranes 9 Locks.

A funny chap is your guide on the adventure where computer-generated images, drawings, videos, music and words interweave and echo each other : the Archivist.

He knows all the Canal du Midi’s secrets. There’s nothing he can’t tell you about the construction of this landmark structure listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. He is the living memory of Béziers’ borna and raised Pierre-Paul Riquet and his work.

The Archivist is quite simply UN-BEAT-ABLE.

He’s funny, original and such a good storyteller that you’ll feel you’ve been whisked 350 years back in time.

As the water and time goes by, the archivist will tell you everything there is to know about the building of the bridges, tunnels, basins, locks and sluices.

You’ll meet some of the Archivist’s friends during your stationary journey and they’ll tell you about their Canal du Midi.

If you’re not a fan of the water, you can still meet the archivist on a walk along the 9 Locks: He joins visitors on our audioguide exhibition trail!
