There have been many arenas in the city. But those built by Messrs Gleizes, Sautel and Castelbon de Beauxhostes, inaugurated in 1897 and seating over 13,000, gave Béziers its reputation. First as the "French Seville", where the greatest matadors have fought. Then as the "French Bayreuth", as the greatest musicians of the early 20th century performed their operas here, from Camille Saint-Saëns to Bizet. Today, our guide opens the doors of the Arena for you, and reveals its secrets, rituals and hours of glory! Prior booking essential, no ticket sales on site.
