This tower is the last vestige of the Château du Marquisat. Property of the lords of Villeneuve, built between the 12th and 14th centuries, it stood out in the landscape with its 4 turrets surrounded by a moat.

During the Wars of Religion, it passed into the hands of the Protestants and was finally burnt down by the passage of King Louis XIII in 1632.

After its reconstruction, several families succeeded one another. The commune bought it but demolished it in 1925 for safety reasons.
